Bryan Moore doesn’t answer to you. Neither does Chief Daughtry. They owe you, the taxpayers who pay their salaries, nothing. They owe the neighbors of the 8-year-old boy who shot himself nothing.

Boots on the ground? Or a couple of pencil pushers? Bryan Moore & Chief Daughtry should tender their resignations, effective immediately.

The neighbors stood along 15th Avenue North waiting for answers. They had already been plagued all night by gunfire. Then, at 4 p.m. when young “Money,” as he is fondly known by friends and family, was transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital-Golden Triangle, Bryan Moore pulled away from the scene and asked standers by to get out of the road. The public information officer offered friends, family, neighbors, worried onlookers no explanation for the gunfire and police and ambulance now present in their neighborhood. The chief also pulled away. He did not address his constituents.
Saving a life, dismissing a community
At least Moore was savvy enough to fashion a tourniquet to save the 8-year-old’s life. And that was the important thing. The rest is inconsequential in the grand scheme of life.
But everything else he did was useless. He obstructed the freedom of the press. He denied the local media access to the chief.
“The chief doesn’t want to talk to you,” he casually informed me Wednesday morning.
He said the department will make no statement other than what he released on Facebook. They will not respond to Northside’s call for more police presence.
Some PIO.
Army of one
He answers to no one. And the chief has already offered his services elsewhere. Jackson, Miss. needs a real leader, not some transplant who tucks tail and runs when the community he polices asks for solutions and prevention to gun violence.
Why was no one arrested for their negligence to leave a gun unsecured within a child’s reach? Money’s father wasn’t even home. He was rushing to the scene to see about his baby boy.
The boy’s uncle and cousin were already there, waiting for information. The chief and PIO offered none.
But at least they saved the boy’s life.
However, they don’t care about ours. Those of you who stood by with me and pleaded for more police presence, they will not answer the call.
Moore, Daughtry: Die in the streets of your own neighborhood, but we have no comment
Bryan Moore and Chief Daughtry do not care if you hear shooting all night or if you are shot in your very homes.
My advice: Brush up on how to make a tourniquet. I would not want my life in Bryan Moore’s hands.
And chief, get out. Leave this place..
We need a real leader. So does Jackson.
Maybe try policing Leigh Mall. That’s more your speed. And take Bryan Moore with you.
I propose Sgt. Brooks for chief. She’s a true leader, a real police officer. And she does it with style, grace, flair and empathy. Maybe it’s the God in her. Maybe it’s Maybeline.
And Money is recovering from his accidental self-inflicted gunshot wounds at UAB Children’s Hospital.
Secure your weapons safely away from children
Lock up your guns, people. Protect your children. Protect my children. Protect each other’s children.
Bryan Moore and Chief Daughtry will not.
But when they shoot themselves, Bryan Moore and the chief know how to make a tourniquet. You should, too.
Bryan Moore and Chief Daughtry entered into a video interview with WTVA news of Tupelo on Wednesday afternoon. She was a young white or Latino woman.
Maybe it is just the black women in the media who actually live in the city they police that they do not answer to. Last time I checked, Tupelo was outside of the jurisdiction of the Columbus Police.
Vanity & vexation of spirit
I am sure they looked very handsome on TV. Looks are only skin deep.
Go home, boys. We don’t need you in the Friendly City. We would like it to actually be friendly again.
Currently, it’s becoming known as “Little Memphis,” a fun nod to the gun violence, drugs and homelessness facing the city

"We will make no other statement other than the press release already available on Facebook. ... The chief does not want to talk to you.” – Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Bryan Moore
